An Accounting and HR Assistant occupies a dual-function role, providing administrative support to both the finance and human resources departments. Core Responsibilities
Human Resources Support
- Recruitment & Onboarding: Post job openings, screen resumes, schedule interviews, and conduct background or reference checks. Coordinate new hire orientations and prepare onboarding materials.
- Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate and confidential employee files, including contracts, performance reviews, and attendance records.
- Employee Relations: Serve as a primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding company policies, benefits, and procedures.
- Benefits & Compliance: Assist in benefits enrollment, track leave/PTO, and ensure compliance with labour laws and safety regulations. YWCA Spokane +10
Accounting Support
- Accounts Payable/Receivable: Process supplier invoices, reconcile vendor statements, and follow up on outstanding receivables.
- Payroll Processing: Assist in semi-monthly or monthly payroll preparation, including collecting timecards and verifying deductions.
- Financial Recordkeeping: Perform data entry into accounting systems (e.g., Tally, QuickBooks), maintain ledgers, and reconcile bank statements.
- Reporting & Audits: Prepare basic financial reports and assist with budgeting, forecasting, and gathering documentation for internal/external audits. YWCA Spokane +8
Essential Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: Often requires 1–3 years of experience in a similar administrative or clerical role.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Suite (especially Excel) and familiarity with HRIS or accounting software like Tally, QuickBooks, or SAP.
- Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational abilities, and the capacity to handle sensitive/confidential information with discretion
