Geotechnical Mechanic

Job SummaryA Geotechnical Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting drilling rigs, geotechnical testing equipment, and site machinery used in soil investigation and foundation works. The role ensures smooth operation of equipment at project sites with minimum downtime.

• Key ResponsibilitiesPerform maintenance and repair of geotechnical drilling rigs, compressors, pumps, and hydraulic systems.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out corrective actions on-site.
• Ensure proper functioning of SPT equipment, borehole tools, and sampling instruments.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of all machinery.
• Assist in mobilization and demobilization of equipment at project sites.
• Maintain service records, logs, and maintenance reports.
• Coordinate with site engineers, geologists, and supervisors for smooth operations.
• Ensure availability of spare parts and tools at site.
• Follow safety standards and company guidelines during operations.
• Handle emergency breakdowns and minimize equipment downtime.
• Required Skills & CompetenciesStrong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and drilling equipment
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues quickly
• Basic understanding of geotechnical investigation processes
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work in remote site conditions
• Educational QualificationITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• ExperienceMinimum 2–5 years experience in geotechnical drilling or construction equipment maintenance
• Working ConditionsField-based job with travel to project sites
• Work may involve long hours and challenging site conditions
• Preferred AttributesExperience with rotary drilling rigs, DTH rigs, or crawler rigs
• Ability to work independently under pressure
• Commitment to safety and discipline
