Lathe Machine Operator

We are seeking a skilled Lathe Operator to handle heavy-duty machining operations for forging press components, shafts, bushes, and precision parts. The candidate should have hands-on experience in conventional lathe machines and the ability to work with large-size components with high accuracy.

• Key Responsibilities:Operate conventional lathe machines for machining shafts, sleeves, bushes, and heavy components
• Perform facing, turning, boring, threading, grooving, and taper turning operations
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and technical specifications
• Maintain required dimensional accuracy and surface finish
• Handle heavy jobs using cranes, steady rests, and fixtures
• Select appropriate cutting tools, inserts, speeds, and feeds
• Carry out in-process inspection using measuring instruments (Vernier, micrometer, bore gauge, etc.)
• Perform machine setup, alignment, and minor maintenance
• Ensure adherence to safety standards and shop discipline
• Coordinate with supervisors for job priorities and production targets
• Required Skills:Strong knowledge of lathe operations and machining practices
• Experience in heavy machining / forging press components preferred
• Ability to work on large diameter shafts and long jobs
• Understanding of fits, tolerances (H7, C3, etc.)
• Familiarity with different materials (EN8, EN9, EN24, MS, etc.)
• Basic knowledge of heat treatment effects on machining
• Qualification:ITI (Turner) / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
• Relevant hands-on experience in machining workshop
• Additional Requirements:Ability to work in rotational shifts (if required)
• Physically fit for handling heavy components
• Team player with a proactive attitude
• Preferred Experience:Work experience in forging press repair / reconditioning industry
• Exposure to crankshaft, ram, gear, and shaft machining
