Job Description – Material Procurement EngineerDepartment: Purchase / Supply Chain

Reporting To: General Manager / Operations Head

Location: Bhosari, Pune

Role ObjectiveTo ensure timely, cost-effective, and quality procurement of raw materials, bought-out items, standard components, and consumables required for manufacturing jigs, fixtures, automation parts, and precision machined components.

Knowledge in AutoCAD is mandatory.

• Key ResponsibilitiesProcurement & Vendor ManagementProcure raw materials (Aluminium, MS, EN series, tool steel, SS, etc.), standard components, and bought-out items as per BOM and project requirements
• Develop and maintain approved vendor list with alternate suppliers
• Negotiate prices, delivery schedules, payment terms, and warranty conditions
• Issue Purchase Orders (POs) and track order acknowledgements
• Material Planning & CoordinationCoordinate with Design & Project Engineering Team, Production, and QC for material specifications and timelines
• Ensure on-time material availability to avoid production delays
• Monitor inventory levels and optimize stock to reduce carrying costs
• Plan procurement for long-lead items proactively
• Quality & ComplianceEnsure material compliance with drawings, specifications, and customer standards
• Verify MTCs, test certificates, and supplier documents
• Coordinate with QC for material inspection and rejection handling
• Support ISO 9001:2015 documentation and audit requirements
• Cost Control & ReportingTrack material costs against project budgets
• Identify cost-saving opportunities through vendor development and bulk sourcing
• Maintain purchase records, MIS reports, and vendor performance reports
• Logistics & Follow-upsTrack dispatch, transit, and delivery of materials
• Resolve shortages, delays, and supplier non-conformities
• Coordinate with stores for GRN and material inward process
• Required QualificationsDiploma / BE / BTech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• 3–6 years of experience in procurement for tool room / jig & fixture / automation manufacturing
• Strong understanding of engineering materials and manufacturing processes
• Skills & CompetenciesTechnical understanding of drawings, BOMs, and material grades
• Strong negotiation and communication skills
• Vendor development and cost-control mindset
• Proficiency in Excel, ERP, and documentation
• Ability to work under tight project timelines
• Preferred ExperienceExperience in automotive / automation / precision engineering industry
• Familiarity with standard components (NAAMS / MISUMI-type parts is an advantage)
• Exposure to subcontracting processes (heat treatment, surface finishing, special processes)
• Performance Indicators (KPIs)On-time material availability
