Mechanical Engineer

1. Mechanical Assembly & Fitting

• Execute mechanical assembly of robotic cells, fixtures, positioners, conveyors, and automation equipment.
• Install robots, tracks, manipulators, jigs, frames, and guarding structures as per drawings.
• Ensure accurate fitting, alignment, and levelling of mechanical components.
• Advance material planning for assembly and coordination with planning, purchase and stores.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Manpower selection, management and handling.
• Lead the end-to-end mechanical assembly and fitting of automation equipment, jigs, and fixtures according to detailed engineering drawings and specifications.

2. Fabrication & Quality Control

• Coordinate with fabrication teams for cutting, machining, welding, and finishing operations.
• Verify component dimensions using measuring instruments (Vernier, micrometer, height gauge, dial gauge).
• Inspect weld quality, machining accuracy, hole patterns, and material finishing.
• Ensure assemblies meet design tolerances and quality standards.

3. Shop Trials & Pre-Dispatch Activities

• Support dry runs, motion trials, and mechanical function checks of robotic systems.
• Identify and resolve mechanical issues during shop trials.
• Assist in pre-dispatch inspection (PDI) and ensure all mechanical components are ready for dispatch.
• Trouble shooting of assembly and trial issues.

4. Documentation & Coordination

• Interpret mechanical drawings, assembly GA drawings, and BOM.
• Update assembly progress reports and maintain shop documentation.
• Coordinate with design, electrical, robot programming, and project teams for smooth execution.
• Communicate material shortages and ensure timely availability of mechanical parts.

5. Safety & Process Compliance

• Follow safety protocols on the shop floor.
• Ensure safe use of tools, lifting equipment, and handling of heavy mechanical assemblies.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of mechanical assembly, fitting, and fabrication processes.
• Hands-on experience with robotic automation equipment, fixtures, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Knowledge of welding, machining, pneumatics, and motion systems is an advantage.
• Familiarity with tools: torque wrench, dial indicators, alignment tools, lifting tackles, etc.
• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and 3D models.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and precision alignment.
