Job Description

A automobile workshop quality controller is responsible for ensuring that all vehicle repairs and services meet company, manufacturer, and safety standards. Their duties include inspecting work done by technicians, performing final checks like road tests, managing the quality of parts and workflow, and maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations. The role requires strong technical knowledge to supervise staff, diagnose complex issues, and maintain customer satisfaction. Key responsibilities


Quality assurance: Oversee the entire repair process, from pre-inspection to final road tests, to ensure all work is completed correctly and efficiently.


Technical supervision: Coach and mentor technicians, assist with complex diagnostics, and ensure they adhere to manufacturer standards and repair instructions.


Workflow management: Plan and allocate jobs to technicians based on skill and availability to ensure optimal productivity and timely completion.


Parts and compliance: Verify that the correct parts are ordered and available, and that all workshop activities comply with health and safety regulations, manufacturer standards, and SOP standards.


Customer satisfaction: Act as a liaison between service advisors, technicians, and customers to keep them informed of progress, delays, and costs, ensuring high customer satisfaction.


Documentation and reporting: Maintain accurate records of technician time, job cards, and service documentation.


Continuous improvement: Identify areas for improvement in the workshop's processes and contribute to maintaining or improving quality standards.

Essential skills and qualifications


  • Technical expertise in vehicle repair and diagnostics.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and motivational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with relevant diagnostic equipment and software.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to pass a road test.
