Plant Head OR (GM) Qualifications & Skills

15+ years of experience in plant operations or manufacturing management

The Plant Head for Machine Tools and Fabrication lead overall manufacturing operations, focusing on production targets, quality standards (ISO), cost control, and safety. Key responsibilities include optimizing machining and fabrication units.

Key Responsibilities

• Operations Leadership: Direct daily production in machining and fabrication shops to meet targets, managing both manpower and machine capabilities.
• Production Scheduling: Optimize scheduling to ensure smooth flow from material procurement to finished goods dispatch.
• Quality & Standards: Ensure strict compliance with technical specifications, QA testing, and ISO standards.
• Machine Maintenance: Oversee preventive, predictive, and autonomous maintenance for fabrication  unit ( Laer and Bending) equipment to maximize uptime.
• Cost Control & Efficiency: Implement lean techniques, Six Sigma, and 5S to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and manage the budget.
• Safety & Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety protocols and statutory regulatory requirements. 

·       Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of machine tools processes, fabrication techniques, and top management.

·       Leadership Skills: Strong team management, decision-making, and problem-solving skill

·       Shop Floor Management: Oversee all operations including Laser Cutting (CNC), Press Brake Bending, Welding (TIG/MIG and CO2), Assembly, and Finishing.

·       Technical Oversight: Ensure optimal machine utilization and set appropriate cutting/bending parameters for different materials (Mild Steel, Stainless Steel, Aluminum).

·       Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of supervisors, machine operators (Laser/Bending), fabricators, and welders.

·       Resource Management: Coordinate with design, procurement, and sales teams for BOM (Bill of Materials) planning and raw material inventory

·       Experience managing large teams and diverse groups of employees

·       Proficient in using ERP systems and production management software

·       Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities

·       Ability to make decisions under pressure

·       Strong understanding of industry standards and regulations

·       Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·       Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

·       Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets

·       Strong understanding of regulatory requirements for operating plants

·       Oversee all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed

·       Develop processes to increase productivity and enhance performance

·       Manage the operation and maintenance of plant equipment

• Good knowledge of purchase, sheet calculation, as per sheet DXF knowledge

·         Review and analyze production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, and operating or production problems

·       Coordinate plant activities through planning with departmental managers to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner

·       Implement cost control programs

·       Monitor and reduce production costs

·       Develop and implement plans for the efficient use of materials, machines, and staff

·       Establish and maintain a positive and productive culture within the plant

·       Work closely with upper management to set and achieve company-wide goals

·       Ensure the plant meets production and quality goals

·       Engage in proactive and reactive problem-solving to resolve issues affecting production, quality, and cost

·       Recruit, hire, and train plant staff

·       Conduct performance reviews and manage staff development
