Purchase Manager

The Purchase Manager will lead the end-to-end procurement of CNC/VMC machinery, raw materials, and specialized cutting tools. This role requires a strategic negotiator who understands machine specifications, cycle times, and the total cost of ownership (TCO) to ensure the machine shop operates at maximum efficiency.

​Key Responsibilities​1. Capital Expenditure (CapEx) Procurement

• ​Machine Sourcing: Lead the evaluation and procurement of CNC Lathes, 3-axis/5-axis VMC machines, and HMCs (Horizontal Machining Centers).
• ​Technical Benchmarking: Collaborate with Production and Engineering to review "Machine Data Sheets"—focusing on Spindle speed, ATC (Automatic Tool Changer) capacity, accuracy, and controller types (e.g., Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi).
• ​Vendor Management: Evaluate global and local OEMs (e.g., Haas, Mazak, DMG Mori, Jyoti, or Ace Micromatic) based on price, repeatability, and after-sales service support.

​2. Tooling & Consumables Management

• ​Precision Tooling: Manage the regular purchase of Carbide inserts, end mills, drills, and specialized boring bars.
• ​Lubricants & Coolants: Source high-performance cutting oils and slideway lubricants essential for machine longevity and surface finish quality.
• ​Inventory Optimization: Implement "Just-in-Time" (JIT) systems for high-wear tools to prevent machine downtime without tying up excessive capital in inventory.

​3. Strategic Sourcing & Cost Control

• ​AMC/CMC Negotiation: Negotiate Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMCs) and Comprehensive Maintenance Contracts (CMCs) to minimize machine downtime.
• ​Raw Material Procurement: Source metal stocks (castings, forgings, or bar stock) at competitive rates, tracking global commodity price fluctuations for Steel and Aluminum.
• ​Value Engineering: Work with vendors to identify alternative tooling grades that offer a lower "cost-per-component" rather than just a lower "price-per-tool."

​4. Logistics & Compliance

• ​Import/Export: Manage customs documentation and inland logistics for imported high-value machinery.
• ​Payment Terms: Negotiate favorable credit periods, Letter of Credit (LC) terms, and performance bank guarantees with distributors.
