Job Description
A. Product Inspection & Quality Control
1. Execute quality checks of incoming, in-process, and finished Products. Perform final inspections of raw materials, components, sub-assemblies, and finished products using calibrated instruments (e.g., vernier callipers, micrometres, gauges etc.)
2. Verify conformance of parts to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards using dimensional and functional checks.
3. Maintain defect tracking mechanisms such as tagging, defect logs, and non-conformance registers to ensure isolation and resolution of faulty items.
4. Follow Sample inspection plans and frequency as per the inspection criteria and SOPs defined by the QA Manager.
5. Conduct first-piece inspection (FPI), Random Sampling inspection and batch validation at every stage of the manufacturing process.
B. Documentation & Record Management
1. Accurately record inspection findings, rejection observations, and acceptance reports in predefined formats (hard copy and ERP system).
2. Ensure timely and accurate update of inspection reports, checklists, calibration logs, and CAPA registers in compliance with ISO 9001 and other defined processes.
3. Prepare and maintain inspection summary reports, daily quality logs, and weekly dashboards for submission to the QA Manager.
4. Assist in creating and revising Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions, and visual inspection aids.
C. Non-Conformance Reporting & Corrective Action Support
1. Identify & escalate non-conforming parts promptly by raising NCRs with detailed descriptions, photographs, and root observations.
2. Coordinate with Production, Design, and Stores to segregate defective products, mark rework items, and ensure traceability.
3. Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) of process/product issues using tools like 5 Why, Ishikawa (Fishbone), and Pareto Analysis.
4. Support the QA Manager in implementation of CAPAs and verify the effectiveness of the corrective actions over time.
D. Process Audits & Compliance Monitoring
1. Perform periodic in-process audits and spot checks on assembly lines, fabrication sections, and vendor-supplied components.
2. Assist QA manager in conducting 5S audits to ensure operator adherence to an organized workplace, defined quality standards, visual quality boards, and process guidelines.
3. Support in implementation and compliance of WCM, ISO 9001, EN 81, and IS 14665 standards.
4. Conduct line clearance checks before batch changeovers to ensure readiness and compliance with defined quality criteria.
5. Assist in preparation for internal and external audits, providing all required records, inspection logs, and evidence.
E. Calibration & Instrument Management
1. Monitor and ensure timely calibration of measuring and testing instruments, in coordination with the QA In-Charge and external labs.
2. Maintain traceability of instruments with updated calibration tags, certificates, and logs in alignment with ISO and QMS requirements.
3. Report and isolate any damaged or expired equipment that may compromise inspection accuracy.
F. Supplier Quality Support
1. Inspect incoming materials and components from vendors as per purchase specifications, approved samples, and drawings.
2. Generate incoming quality reports and inform purchase department about the repeated supplier defects.
3. Assist in supplier audits by gathering inspection data and tracking supplier NCRs.
G. Customer-Centric Quality Initiatives
1. Assist in customer complaint investigations by providing inspection data, rejection trends, and part traceability details.
2. Participate in mock inspections and prepare documents for customer audits, ensuring readiness and compliance.
3. Support re-inspection or re-validation processes before dispatching reworked or customer-rejected components.
H. Training, 5S & Kaizen Initiatives
1. Support the QA Manager in training operators and production staff on basic quality concepts, product-specific checks, and defect prevention.
2. Promote and practice 5S, visual management, and safety guidelines across inspection and assembly areas.
3. Participate in WCM and Kaizen activities, documenting quality improvements and driving workplace standardization.
I. Cross-functional Coordination
1. Maintain close coordination with Production, Maintenance, R&D, and Dispatch teams to address quality issues in real time.
2. Provide inspection feedback & suggestions to improve product quality 7 reduce rejections.
3. Collaborate with QA In-Charge during New Product Development (NPD) by inspecting prototypes and sharing quality inputs.
