Job Description

Position Summary

 

The Senior Sales Executive – General Trade is responsible for driving sales of A. O. Smith’s residential products by developing and managing relationships with distributors, dealers, retailers, and customers in the assigned territory. This role focuses on lead generation, channel development, customer engagement, and sales target achievement. The ideal candidate will bring strong market knowledge, communication skills, and a hands-on approach to building profitable partnerships and delivering business growth.

Role & Responsibilities

 

Sales Execution & Market Development

  • Identify market potential and generate new sales opportunities through research, networking, and outreach.
  • Implement business line sales strategies and secondary-driven sales plans to meet territory targets.
  • Improve market share by optimizing product mix and selecting the right business partners.
  • Appoint distributors, dealers, and retailers in line with business plans.
  • Set performance targets for channel partners and support them in achieving profitable growth.

 

Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients through regular engagement.
  • Understand customer needs and provide tailored sales and service solutions.
  • Train and educate dealers periodically to ensure timely and effective customer support.
  • Handhold new business partners and provide necessary resources for successful onboarding.

 

Sales Presentations & Demonstrations

  • Present product features and benefits to channel partners and address their concerns.
  • Conduct product demonstrations based on business needs and market feedback.

 

Market Intelligence & Reporting

  • Stay updated on market trends, competitor activity, and customer preferences.
  • Track sales performance and provide accurate forecasts to management.
  • Monitor partner performance, identify non-performers, and take corrective actions.
  • Analyze channel attrition and implement retention strategies.
  • Maintain monthly reports as per business requirements.

 

 Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with marketing, customer service, and product development teams to ensure aligned messaging and seamless customer experience
