VMC Machine Operator

A VMC (Vertical Machining Center) Machine Operator is responsible for operating CNC VMC machines to manufacture precision components according to drawings and specifications.

• 1. Machine OperationOperate VMC / CNC milling machines to produce parts as per engineering drawings.
• Load and unload raw materials or workpieces into the machine.
• Start and monitor machine cycles during production.
• 2. Job SetupSet up fixtures, tools, and cutting parameters as per job requirements.
• Install and adjust cutting tools, tool holders, and work offsets.
• Perform basic machine setup before production starts.
• 3. Reading DrawingsRead and understand engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Identify dimensions, tolerances, and machining operations required.
• 4. Quality InspectionMeasure finished components using Vernier caliper, micrometer, height gauge, and gauges.
• Ensure parts meet tolerance and quality standards.
• 5. Tool MonitoringCheck tool wear and replace tools when necessary.
• Maintain proper tool life to ensure consistent machining quality.
• 6. Machine MaintenancePerform basic machine maintenance like cleaning, lubrication, and coolant level checking.
• Report any machine problems to the supervisor or maintenance team.
• 7. Production RecordsMaintain production reports and job records.
• Record quantities produced and rejected parts.
• 8. Safety ComplianceFollow machine safety procedures and PPE requirements.
• Ensure safe operation of machines and tools.
