Aluminium Formwork Designer

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Aluminum Formwork Designer to join our team in Pune. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and developing aluminum formwork solutions for diverse construction projects. This role involves close collaboration with project teams, architects, and structural consultants to deliver optimized formwork systems that ensure structural integrity, cost savings, safety, and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

Formwork System Design:

1 Read and thoroughly understand architectural and structural drawings (GFC drawings) to extract relevant details and project specifications.

2 Prepare detailed "Shell Plans" and "Modulation Drawings" for aluminum formwork for new material supply as well as considering reusability of existing panels and optimizing material usage for modification projects.

3 Design new or modify existing aluminum formwork components as needed to fit project requirements.

4 Incorporate details like drip molds, elevation grooves, and MEP grooves (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) details into the formwork design.

5 Develop fabrication drawings/ production drawing for special panels and new material requirements.

6 Conduct structural analysis of formwork systems to ensure they can withstand the weight and pressure of poured concrete, complying with relevant building codes and industry standards.

Material Optimization and Costing:

1 Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for the entire project for 100% new supply, categorizing materials as "used directly," "modified and reused," or "new procurement” for modification projects.

2 Optimize formwork designs to maximize material usage and minimize waste, ensuring high reusability of panels (ideally above 80%).

3 Develop cost-effective formwork solutions that contribute to project budget adherence.

Collaboration and Communication:

1 Work closely with architects, structural engineers, and construction managers to understand project specifications, resolve queries, and align designs with overall project objectives.

2 Coordinate with the production and fabrication teams to ensure designs are implementable and meet manufacturing capabilities.

3 Provide technical support to the on-site construction team during formwork installation, inspection, and adjustments, resolving any issues that may arise.

Documentation and Quality Assurance:

1 Prepare detailed design drawings (2D and 3D using CAD software), technical specifications, and installation guidelines for formwork systems.

2 Maintain accurate records of all projects, including design specifications, site inspections, and material testing results.

3 Ensure all formwork designs comply with local building codes, industry standards, and safety regulations.

4 Oversee quality control checks on fabricated formwork products to ensure adherence to design specifications.

Training and Support:

1 Potentially provide training and guidance to fellow Junior Designers on the preparation of shell plan, Qty estimation, etc.. of aluminum formwork systems.

Project Reporting:

2 Track project progress related to formwork design and prepare regular reports on design status, and encountered issues.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Education:

BE / B.Tech (Civil Engineering)

•

Technical Skills:

1 Proficiency in CAD software, especially AutoCAD, for 2D and 3D design.

2 Knowledge of structural analysis principles for formwork systems.

3 Understanding of building codes, industry standards, and safety regulations related to formwork.

4 Good knowledge of MS Excel for quantity estimation and reporting.
