Associate engineer (MySQL admin)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled MySQL Database Administrator with a minimum of 3 years of strong hands-on experience, capable of supporting mission‑critical systems in a 24/7 environment. The ideal candidate should have solid experience managing MySQL databases in production and possess basic working knowledge of MSSQL. The role involves maintaining performance, availability, and security of MySQL environments, as well as supporting database processes across development, QA, and production.

 

Key Responsibilities
MySQL Administration

  • Provision, configure, and maintain MySQL database instances in both clustered and non‑clustered environments.
  • Ensure high levels of performance, security, and availability across all MySQL databases.
  • Perform routine DBA tasks such as upgrades, backups, restorations, migrations, and recovery.
  • Monitor database systems for performance bottlenecks, slow queries, locking issues, and implement optimizations as required.
  • Support and manage MySQL databases for Production, QA, and Development environments.
  • Conduct performance tuning, query optimization, and index refinement.
  • Manage MySQL Replication setups including Master–Slave and Master–Master configurations.
  • Implement and maintain MySQL Enterprise tools including Audit, Backup, and Monitoring.
  • Work with INNODB and NDB cluster technologies as needed.
  • Ensure proactive monitoring of MySQL database systems with minimal downtime.

 

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

Work closely with development and infrastructure teams to troubleshoot and fine‑tune performance issues.
Assist developers with query tuning, schema design refinements, and review of database‑related changes.

 

Operations & Automation

Analyze, troubleshoot, and quickly resolve real‑time production issues ensuring system stability.
Automate recurring tasks and enhance processes to improve operational efficiency.
Maintain versioned documentation of configuration changes, workflows, and database procedures.

 

MSSQL (Basic Administration)

Perform basic MSSQL DBA tasks such as:

Monitoring SQL Server health
Managing backups and restores
Supporting schema updates and query execution
Troubleshooting common issues

Provide foundational support for MSSQL instances alongside MySQL activities.

 

Support Responsibilities

Provide 24x7 on‑call support on a rotational basis.
Ensure adherence to security best practices and compliance requirements.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree - IT 
  • 6 months - 1.6  years of experience with MySQL database administration
  • Nice to have: MSSQL and Azure experience
