Azure Data Engineer | Cloud Infrastructure, Data Pipelines, Automation, Security, Compliance

Job Summary
Synechron is seeking an experienced Azure Data Engineer to support the organization’s cloud infrastructure and data solutions. In this role, you will design, implement, and optimize scalable data pipelines and cloud-based systems to support enterprise analytics, compliance, and operational excellence. Your expertise will contribute to maintaining secure, high-availability data environments, driving data-driven decision-making, and supporting ongoing digital transformation initiatives.

Software Requirements

  • Required: Azure Portal, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL Database, Power BI, Azure DevOps, Azure CLI, Azure PowerShell, SQL Server, Git, Jenkins, Terraform (preferred), Ansible (preferred)

  • Preferred: Azure Data Share, Azure Purview, Power BI Embedded, Kubernetes, Docker, monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, Grafana, Log Analytics)

  • Experience level: 5+ years supporting cloud infrastructure, data pipelines, and automation in enterprise environments

Overall Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and manage scalable cloud data pipelines, warehouses, and data lakes supporting analytics and business intelligence needs

  • Automate provisioning, deployment, and management of cloud resources using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM templates, Ansible)

  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and development teams to ensure data security, quality, and performance

  • Optimize cloud environments for performance, cost efficiency, and compliance with data governance policies

  • Support database and data pipeline tuning, troubleshooting, and incident resolution

  • Ensure data security, encryption, and access control measures are implemented and maintained

  • Monitor system health and performance, generating insights through alerts, dashboards, and automation

  • Support migration and upgrade projects in cloud environments, minimizing operational disruption

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of architecture, configurations, and operational standards

Technical Skills (By Category)

  • Programming Languages:

    • Essential: PowerShell, Azure CLI, Bash (for automation tasks)

    • Preferred: Python, ARM templates for automating deployments and data workflows

  • Cloud Technologies:

    • Azure (Azure Data Factory, Data Lake, Synapse Analytics, Data Share, Power BI, Azure SQL)

    • Basic understanding of cloud security, networking, and multi-cloud strategies (preferred)

  • Frameworks and Libraries:

    • Terraform, Azure Resource Manager (ARM), Ansible for automation; monitoring SDKs for Azure Monitor, Grafana

  • Development Tools & Methodologies:

    • Azure DevOps, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, Agile/Scrum, monitoring and alerting tools

  • Security & Compliance:

    • Implementation of encryption, role-based access control (RBAC), compliance standards (GDPR, HIPAA, SOC)

Experience Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience supporting cloud data platforms and infrastructure solutions

  • Proven experience designing, developing, and managing scalable cloud data pipelines and warehouses

  • Hands-on expertise in automation, provisioning, and deployment in Azure environments

  • Strong skills in database management, security implementations, and incident troubleshooting

  • Industry experience in finance, healthcare, retail, or enterprise sectors is beneficial, but extensive experience in large-scale cloud operations is essential

Day-to-Day Activities

  • Develop and optimize cloud data pipelines, databases, and storage solutions

  • Manage automated deployment, configuration, and resource scaling activities

  • Monitor system health, troubleshoot issues, and implement performance and security enhancements

  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and application teams to meet data needs

  • Support migration, upgrade, and disaster recovery initiatives in cloud environments

  • Maintain documentation for system architecture, configurations, and operational procedures

  • Conduct capacity planning, cost management, and security audits regularly

  • Support incident response and create automation strategies to reduce manual intervention

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or relevant field

  • 5+ years supporting cloud data environments, automation, and data pipeline management

  • Certifications such as Azure Data Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Cloud Security are preferred

  • Knowledge of compliance standards and data security practices

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills

  • Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and collaborate with global teams
