Job Description: Mainframe CICS Admin

The ideal candidate for this role will have the below experience and qualifications:

  • Experience in upgrade/install of CICS Transaction Servers, zCEE, CICS PA and other vendor products(CAFC) along with maintenance by applying FIX packs periodically.
  • Installation and tuning processes and procedures for CICS webservices and CICSplex System manager ,JVM Servers and Angels stated tasks so that all CICS services and infrastructures meet operational targets.
  • Should be self-sufficient and able to perform most of the tasks involved in his/her role without assistance.
  • Good knowledge on monitoring and administrative tools like Omegamon, Sysview or any other equivalent for support.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and provide administrative solutions where appropriate.
  • Working knowledge of System z communications and Systems Network Architecture (SNA) concepts
  • Ability to interpret and utilize assembler output listings.
  • Monitor ticketing tool to resolve incidents and requests within agreed SLAs.
  • Adopt to weekends to support which get planned on rotational basis to change implementation and supports client systems for 24/7 on rotational basis.


To be successful in this role, we are looking, A candidate with problem solving skills, who takes accountability and responsibility in troubleshooting, researching, and resolving application issues with:

  • Utilizing system diagnostics tools like CA SYSVIEW / Omegamon / Mainview, Fault Analyzer, CICS PA to arrive at problem solutions, Hands on CICS SSL Setup Troubleshooting
  • Understating of CICS Application Architecture (CMAS/MRO and NON MRO ), design and maintenance, for CICS connections from CICS as well Off host DataPower , WAS, JAVA   to analyze architecture and security issues, and perform advanced troubleshooting.  
  • Working knowledge of z/OS Job Control Language (JCL).
  • Tool - Service Now for Incident/Change Management, BMC Remedy On-Demand Tool.

Ensure documentation of all DR related operational processes and procedures
