Functional Tester (Test Case Development and Defect Tracking)

Job Summary

Synechron is seeking dedicated Functional Testers to join our team and play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and functionality of our software applications. As a Functional Tester, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing test cases based on system requirements to ensure our applications meet business needs efficiently. Your contribution will be vital in identifying defects and ensuring seamless functionality, thereby supporting Synechron's commitment to delivering high-quality solutions to our clients.

Software Requirements

• Required Software Skills:

  • Proficient in using test management tools such as JIRA, TestRail, or similar.
  • Experience with defect tracking tools for reporting and tracking issues.
  • Understanding of version control systems like GIT.

• Preferred Software Skills:

  • Familiarity with automation tools such as Selenium for executing regression tests.
  • Knowledge of continuous integration and delivery tools like Jenkins.

Overall Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute functional test cases aligned with system requirements and specifications.
• Conduct comprehensive testing to identify defects and ensure the application functionality aligns with business needs.
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to gain a deep understanding of application functionality and requirements.
• Document test results, report defects, and track them through resolution using appropriate tools.
• Participate in test case reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve testing processes continuously.
• Execute regression testing to ensure that existing functionalities remain unaffected by new changes.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of testing documentation, including test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards and best practices in software testing.
• Provide input to project meetings and status reports on testing progress and issues.
• Stay updated on industry trends, methodologies, and tools relevant to functional testing.

Technical Skills (By Category)

• Programming Languages:

  • Preferred: Basic scripting knowledge for test automation.

• Databases/Data Management:

  • Essential: Experience with SQL for database testing.

• Development Tools and Methodologies:

  • Required: Familiarity with Agile methodologies.

Experience Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software testing, specifically in a functional testing role.
• Experience in collaborating with development teams and understanding software development life cycles.

Day-to-Day Activities

• Write, maintain, and execute test cases to ensure software quality.
• Collaborate in regular meetings and discussions with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and report on testing progress.
• Deliver detailed test reports and documentation to stakeholders.
• Make informed decisions on testing approaches and defect resolution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Certifications in software testing (e.g., ISTQB) are preferred.
