Application Management Lead

Enterprise-Wide Technology (EWT) is the UK Firm’s internal technology division and is accountable for delivering a range of services to the UK Firm. Taking a holistic approach, this includes gathering requirements, solution design, build and run and the execution of complex change portfolios focused on security, data, core infrastructure and business applications. 

Service Operations is a vital element of EWT therefore the Service Ops Manager - Application Management will be responsible for management of all in scope Applications assuring alignment with the Application Management strategy and framework. Acting as a point of contact with third party vendors, this role coordinate on service operational, and assurance matters through a team of Service Ops Managers and Analysts. Equally, the position will act as the first point of escalation for service operations and provide direction to service delivery roles.

  • Ensures that all requests for support are dealt with according to set standards and procedures (ASUP)
  • Manages application enhancements to improve business performance (ASUP)
  • Identifies the communications and relationship needs of stakeholder groups. Translates communications/stakeholder engagement strategies into specific activities and deliverables (RLMT)
  • Ensures that processes and practices are aligned across teams and providers to operate effectively and efficiently (ITMG)
  • Monitors the performance of application services. Ensures that operational issues are identified, recorded, monitored and resolved. Provides appropriate status and other reports to specialists, users and managers (ITMG)
  • Monitors performance of delivery teams and takes corrective action where necessary and in line with policies (ITMG)
  • Provides technical leadership to optimise the performance of applications
  • Facilitates recovery, following resolution of incidents. Ensures that incidents are properly documented and closed (USUP)
  • Ensures that appropriate action is taken to anticipate, investigate and resolve problems in systems and services (PBMG)

Enables development of problem solutions. Own the implementation of agreed remedies and preventative measures (PBMG)

  • A degree in computer science, information technology or computer applications
  • Minimum of 7 Years working in Application management
  • Experience managing IT Applications in a global organisation
  • Experience of operating in a complex organisation in a matrixed environment
  • Exposure to ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira), cloud-based applications, and enterprise software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent communication, and stakeholder management.
  • Good understanding of relevant service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL, DevOps and Agile)
  • Knowledge of on-prem and cloud services (SaaS, PaaS etc.)
