Job Description (JD): Electrical Project Engineer

Department: Engineering / Projects

Reporting To: Project Manager / Senior Engineer/Operations Manager

Role Summary

The Electrical Engineer will support the planning, design, execution, and testing of electrical manufacturing projects. The role involves coordination across departments, preparation of technical documentation, and ensuring compliance with industry standards while contributing to timely project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Coordination

• Assist Project Manager/Senior Engineer in execution of electrical projects
• Understand project scope, specifications, and client requirements
• Coordinate with design, procurement, production, and QA/QC teams
• Track project milestones and escalate delays/issues

Design & Engineering

• Interpret SLDs, GA drawings, and wiring schematics
• Prepare layout drawings using AutoCAD/SolidWorks
• Perform engineering calculations (cable sizing, load distribution, breaker selection)
• Develop cable schedules, load lists, and panel wiring details

Documentation

• Prepare and maintain:
• Bill of Materials (BOM)
• Design reports
• Testing procedures/manuals
• As-built drawings
• Generate datasheets and technical manuals

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure adherence to IS, IEC, IEEE, and client standards
• Coordinate with QA/QC to resolve non-conformities
• Implement corrective and preventive actions

Testing & Commissioning

• Supervise panel assembly and equipment installation
• Conduct/witness:
• Continuity tests
• Insulation Resistance (IR) tests
• Functional & interlock tests
• Prepare Inspection & Test Reports (ITRs)

Site Support

• Visit sites for installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting
• Coordinate with site/service teams and gather feedback

Learning & Development

• Stay updated on electrical standards and technologies (PLC, SCADA, IoT)
• Attend training on safety, quality systems, and tools
