JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:                                                      Civil & structural Graduate Engineer

ROLE PROFILE 

Primarily to work within the MESTN (Morrison Energy Services Transmission Networks) Substation Civil Design, assist the Lead & Senior Civil Engineers in delivering the Civil and structural design works associated with the HV Substations. 

•        To develop and deliver civil & structural engineering solutions from feasibility to detailed engineering designs, including concrete reinforced foundations, transformer bunds, access roads, earthworks, fencings, plant steel support structures, drainage and GIS & Control buildings associated with electrical Substations projects across Power T&D. 

•        To work with the project team, designers, and subcontractors through the substation civil design phase to deliver a safe and suitable scope of work that meets the client's requirements.

•        To engage in bid development, tendering and innovation projects alongside the Design Lead and Design Manager. 

•        Throughout the stages of design, prepare and assist the construction team with the completion of As-Built drawings, assist the bid by completing tendering concept design drawings and 3D rendering presentations

•        Assist with preparing concept civil design solutions and liaise with structural/electrical engineers, design coordinators, clients, and subcontractors on all drawing matters.

•        Liaise with multidisciplinary engineering teams (Main-Plant engineers, Project Managers, Electrical Engineers, and Protection and Control Engineers) to provide end-to-end, time and cost-saving solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES 

•        Initial and ongoing liaison with the Lead / Senior Design Engineer to establish the design parameters

•        Liaise with the engineers to obtain relevant drawings for detailed design. Assisted engineers with design work using Revit, AutoCAD & Civil 3D, and Tekla Structures.

•        Maintaining all design records and drawings library, including calculations and any assumptions made. 

•        Collaborate with other discipline engineers and technicians to create BIM 360 models of Substation and HV cabling projects to ensure the accuracy and completeness of designs. 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

•        Good written and verbal communication skills, including writing clear reports.

•        Communicate complex information to a diverse range of people.

•        Ability to work independently with strong interpersonal and organisational skills.

•        Ability to challenge information presented and be prepared for the versatile nature of Civil Substation Design.

•        Academic/Professional experience in design and analysis software using STAAD Pro, Tekla Tedds, Autodesk Revit & AutoCAD & Civil 3D, and Tekla Structural Designer 

•        Academic/professional experience working and delivering in a BIM 360 environment.

•        Academic/professional experience in designing earthworks and generating cut and fill volume drawings

•        Good mathematical acumen 

Desired

•        Relevant Electricity Transmission & Distribution Industry Experience.

•        Experience using Revit, AutoCAD & Civil 3D, and Tekla Structures designing HV substation infrastructure.

•        Experience in earthworks modelling and creating 3D models of a site to calculate cut and fill volumes and prepare for construction

Qualifications

•        Academically qualified to Masters in civil/structural engineering 

•        Have done well through the academic career. First class degree is required as a minimum 

•        This is a Post-Graduate position; however, candidates with up to 1 to 2 years of experience in Civil Design Engineering are welcome
