Location: Pune, India

Reporting to: VP – Software Development, FLX ONE Cargo

The FLX ONE platform supports airlines across Offer, Order, Settlement, and Delivery (OOSD), aligned with IATA standards for modern retailing. Role Context

As the Senior Manager – Software Development, you will be the founding engineering leader for FLX ONE Cargo in Pune. You are responsible for building the initial engineering organisation, establishing delivery discipline, and setting a high bar for engineering quality, ownership, and operational reliability from day one.

This role is focused on execution, people leadership, and delivery outcomes. You will work closely with the VP, Architects, Product leaders, and AI/Data teams to ensure that Cargo capabilities are delivered predictably, align with the broader FLX ONE ecosystem, and meet enterprise-grade reliability and quality expectations.

This is a hands-on leadership role, operating closely with teams while maintaining accountability for delivery, people development, and engineering standards.

What You’ll Own

Engineering Team & Talent

● Build and grow high-performing engineering teams with a strong mix of senior and early-career talent.

● Hire, coach, and develop Team Leads and senior engineers, creating a strong leadership bench.

● Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Delivery & Execution

● Own delivery outcomes for Cargo engineering teams, ensuring predictable execution against committed plans.

● Partner with Product and Architecture to translate roadmaps into executable delivery plans.

● Ensure high-quality releases through disciplined engineering practices and production readiness.

Engineering Standards & Quality

● Establish clear expectations for code quality, review practices, testing, and operational ownership.

● Promote pragmatic engineering decisions that balance speed, quality, and long-term maintainability.

● Drive consistency in how teams build, deploy, and operate services.

Operational Excellence

● Maintain strong operational hygiene across services, including reliability, observability, and incident management.

● Use delivery and reliability metrics to identify bottlenecks and drive continuous improvement.

● Ensure teams operate effectively in a cloud-native, production-first environment.

Collaboration & Alignment

● Work closely with Platform Architects to ensure architectural alignment with FLX ONE Retail and shared services.

● Collaborate with AI/Data teams to adopt AI-assisted and data-informed engineering practices where appropriate.

● Act as a key engineering stakeholder across cross-functional forums.

What You Must Bring

● 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 4–5 years in engineering leadership roles.

● Strong technical background in backend or full-stack development using modern enterprise stacks (e.g., .NET, Node.js, Java, or similar).

● Hands-on experience delivering cloud-native systems on AWS or equivalent platforms.

● Proven ability to lead teams delivering complex, distributed systems in production environments.

● Strong judgment, clear communication skills, and an ownership-driven leadership mindset.

Nice to Have

● Experience in airline, cargo, logistics, or other complex enterprise domains.

● Familiarity with modern airline retailing concepts or IATA standards (e.g., ONE Record, One Order).

● Exposure to AI-assisted development, automation, or data-driven engineering practices.

Why This Role Matters

This role establishes the engineering foundation for FLX ONE Cargo. The teams you build, the standards you set, and the delivery discipline you establish will directly influence how Cargo engineering scales and succeeds over the long term.

What does the future of the air transport industry look like to you? Whether you’re an industry veteran or someone with experience from other industries, we want to make your ambitions a reality!
