This is an exciting time for Northern Trust and this individual would play an important role in the growth of teams under his/her remit. It is expected that this individual has considerable experience and strong technical background to gain the respect of senior software development staff.  Suitable candidate must have a team development focus and prior hands-on experience with multiple aspects of development and delivery of applications.  

• Strong automation resource adept with Java, Selenium, Cloud.
• Strong in building QA strategy across organisation and leading the QA Automation, performance and SRE initiatives.
• Leads testers across multiple projects and team in the automation solutions in Java, .Net, Python, Quant based solutions, Cloud migrations  to meet business needs.
• Provides QA governance and management of multiple applications development efforts simultaneously across a multiple stakeholders and product owners.
• Liaison with several Chicago-based teams on projects,  strategic architecture goals, resourcing requirements, and various project needs
• Develops long and short term QA strategy with all stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of various financial products and banking industry.  
• Thoroughly understands decision process issues of technology choice, such as capacities, response time, data interfacing, client server communication, industry standard technologies and new industry trends, etc.
• Works closely with architects and other enterprise stakeholders to ensure solution alignment with best enterprise practices.
• Responsible for the performance management of the staff reporting to self.
• Responsible for maximising the effectiveness by building strong team/technical competencies.
• Help recruit, develop and mentor high performing and diverse teams across various workgroups.  Promote teamwork in problem resolution. Foster an environment of open discussion,

• Requires an extensive knowledge of application development and support processes, usually having experience with multiple system technologies.
• Strong domain knowledge and experience working with a wide range of Financial Services / Asset Management technology platforms.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong knowledge of applying agile methodologies (Kanban, Iterative Waterfall, hybrid-Agile) and experience handling teams with different maturity of agile practices.
• Excellent consultative and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with client, partner, and IT management and staff.
• Engages in high level break/fix support during disaster recovery scenarios and assists with Production issues when higher level analysis is required.
• Thoroughly understands decision process issues of technology choice, such as capacities, response time, data interfacing, client server communication, industry standard technologies and new industry trends, etc.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Minimum 15 years of overall experience, with at least 7 years in supervising/managing teams

technology Skills

• Experience with emerging trends in technology such as Public/Private Cloud Technologies as it relates to Application development, PII management, Financial Services Regulations.
• Technical experience with various QA Automation tools, utilities, and frameworks such as Cucumber, Selenium, Java, C#, Python etc.
• Understanding of various performance testing frameworks and corresponding metrics.
• Interpret business requirement and functional requirements to assist testers in their job duties
• Good understanding of order life cycle, portfolio management and construction with knowledge in Asset Management will be preferred.
