Job Description – Alation Implementation Consultant – 5A

 

Role Summary

The Implementation Consultant will be responsible for configuring and implementing data governance capabilities in the enterprise governance platform, translating approved governance designs into working, production‑ready configurations across domains and phases.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

• Configure and implement governance assets in Alation, including business glossary, CDEs, policies, standards, quality rules, workflows, dashboards, alerts, and notifications.
• Implement governance workflows for Create / Update / Inactivate use cases, including SLAs, escalations, and decision logging.
• Configure relationships between business metadata, technical metadata, lineage, and quality rules to ensure traceability.
• Support metadata ingestion, enrichment, and alignment between business and technical assets.
• Support integration deployments, environment setup, and production readiness activities related to Alation.
• Assist with testing, defect resolution, and UAT support for governance configurations.
• Deliver enablement sessions and walkthroughs for stewards, owners, and business users on Alation usage.
• Support documentation, configuration handover, and stabilization during transition to BAU operations.

 

Required Skills & Experience

 

• 8+ years of experience implementing data governance or data catalog platforms, with strong hands‑on configuration experience.
• Demonstrated hands‑on expertise with Alation configuration, including glossary objects, CDEs, standards, workflows, dashboards, and notifications.
• Strong understanding of business metadata, data quality rules, governance workflows, and stewardship processes.
• Experience working with enterprise data sources such as ERP, MDM, data platforms, and BI tools.
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and delivery skills.
• Certifications Required :

• Alation Certified Professional: Implementation Specialist
