VMC / CNC Operator Cum Programmer

The VMC Operator cum Programmer will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating Vertical Machining Centers (VMCs) to produce precision metal components according to technical drawings and specifications. The role requires strong knowledge of CNC programming (G & M codes), tooling, and machining processes to ensure high-quality production and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

 Prepare and set up VMC machines for operation according to job orders and engineering drawings.

 Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs using CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, or similar).

 Load and inspect tools, fixtures, and raw materials before machining.

 Perform machine offsets, tool wear adjustments, and program fine-tuning during production.

 Conduct first-piece inspection and verify part dimensions using measuring instruments (Vernier, micrometer, height gauge, etc.).

 Maintain machine cleanliness, lubricate components, and perform basic maintenance as required.

 Troubleshoot machining issues, tool breakages, and program errors effectively.

 Collaborate with the design and production teams to improve process efficiency and product quality.

 Ensure adherence to safety standards and quality management procedures (ISO / TS if applicable).

 Maintain documentation related to production, tool usage, and job completion reports.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

 ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Tool & Die, or Production Engineering.

 Minimum 2–5 years of hands-on experience as a VMC Operator/Programmer.

 Proficiency in CNC programming using G & M codes and CAM software.

 Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, and tolerances.

 Familiar with tool selection, speeds & feeds, and machining parameters for different

materials (mild steel, aluminum, stainless steel, etc.).

 Experience with Fanuc / Siemens / Mitsubishi controllers (as per machine type).

 Ability to perform precise measurements using standard inspection tools.

 Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications (Optional):

 Experience in 3D surface machining or mold/die manufacturing.

 Knowledge of lean manufacturing and 5S practices.

 Willingness to work in shifts and meet production deadlines.
