VMC Operator

The VMC Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining Vertical Machining Centers (VMC) to produce precision components as per engineering drawings and quality standards. The role ensures productivity, accuracy, and adherence to safety norms.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate Vertical Machining Center (VMC) machines for machining components.

Set up jobs including tool setting, work offset setting, and fixture alignment.

Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.

Load CNC programs and make minor edits if required.

Select appropriate cutting tools and ensure proper tool offsets.

Monitor machine operations and make adjustments to maintain quality.

Measure components using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, and gauges.

Maintain production records and inspection reports.

Perform routine machine maintenance and cleaning.

Follow safety rules, SOPs, and quality standards (ISO / 5S).

Report machine breakdowns or quality issues to the supervisor.

Achieve production targets while minimizing rejection and scrap.

Skills & Competencies:

Knowledge of VMC machine operations.

Basic understanding of CNC programming (Fanuc / Siemens / Mitsubishi preferred).

Ability to read mechanical drawings and GD&T basics.

Familiarity with measuring instruments.

Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Attention to detail and quality orientation.

Qualifications:

ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Minimum 1–3 years of experience as a VMC Operator (freshers may be considered with training).

Experience in manufacturing / machining industry preferred.

Working Conditions:

Shop-floor based role.

Willingness to work in shifts.
