Job Purpose: This role is responsible to manage and enhance the plant's greenbelt and landscape areas through regular maintenance. Lead effective measures for managing in-house nursery operations, and maintaining horticulture equipment. Engage and develop the horticulture team, while coordinating with various departments to fulfil the plant's horticulture requirements.
Lead Horticulture
Greenbelt and Landscape Management:
Oversee the maintenance of greenbelt areas in the plant and township area including removal of wild growth and ensure regular maintenance of plants.
Manage the maintenance of lawns through grass cutting, watering, and maintenance of existing hedges and shrubs by trimming.
Manage the maintenance of landscape areas by pruning, lawn mowing, hedge cutting, unwanted weeding, pesticide and weedicide spray.
Arrange plantation events as required and support other zones of the plant with their horticulture needs.
Ensure removal of unwanted grass and vegetation in fire-restricted areas and address concerns raised on GENSUITE, as they arise.
Conduct regular meetings with horticulture agencies to ensure the progressive increase and development of green zone areas as per CPCB and State PCB norms.
Coordinate with Corporate affairs for liasoning with contractors for Greenbelt development
Horticulture Production and Equipment:
Lead in-house production and utilization of vermicompost.
Optimize growing conditions and apply advanced horticultural techniques to enhance plant quality and productivity in the nursery.
Lead nursery staff, manage vendor coordination, and ensure compliance with horticultural standards and regulatory requirements.
Manage the maintenance and repair of horticulture equipment, including the issuance of diesel and monitoring equipment running.
Ensure to follow procedures as per the manufacturer guide lines and proper documentation of activities through checklists.
Irrigation and Plant Care:
Maintain the water distribution system, sprinklers, and related fittings for efficient irrigation.
Ensure regular application of fertilizers and medicines to plants as required.
Monitor all green zone areas to receive regular water as per requirement and establish new green zones.
Maintain fruit-bearing trees and ensure they receive appropriate care.
Budget and Resource Management:
Prepare and manage the budget for horticulture jobs within the plant.
Raise purchase requisitions (PR) for procurement of materials.
Process service entry sheets, inward/outward material gate passes, and material reservations in SAP.
Verify monthly bills from contracting agencies and scrutinize for accuracy.
Preparation of weekly and daily work programs as per approved schedules and action plans to complete work within the timeframe.
Business Sustainability:
Implement and follow IMS, AWMS, DISHA and CHETNA guidelines within the department.
Ensure the safety of personnel and equipment by guiding workmen on safe working practices, providing proper training, and supporting safety audits to address and close audit findings.
Enforce adherence to safety norms and integrate safety measures to maintain a secure work environment within department operations.
Digitization and Automation:
Execute comprehensive digitization strategies and automation solutions to optimize operational efficiency.
Implement process and system improvements, adopting newer technologies and innovative ideas.
Coordinate with different departments for the integration of advanced technology and digitization.

Educational Qualification:
Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Botany, Agriculture, Forestry or a related field.
Work Experience (Range of years):
8+ years of experience in horticulture management or a similar field.
Preferred Industry:
Experience in industrial or corporate horticulture management, with exposure to greenbelt development and maintenance.
