Job Summary:Steel (B/B) Fitters are responsible for assembling, installing, aligning, and maintaining structural steel components and fabricated parts as per technical drawings and project specifications. The role involves working with beams, brackets, base plates, and structural assemblies used in industrial or construction projects.

• Key Responsibilities:Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and layout plans.
• Perform fitting, assembling, and installation of steel structures and components.
• Measure, cut, grind, and align steel parts as per specifications.
• Carry out marking and layout work for fabrication and erection activities.
• Ensure proper alignment and positioning of beams, columns, and brackets.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments effectively.
• Coordinate with welding and fabrication teams for assembly completion.
• Inspect finished work to ensure quality and dimensional accuracy.
• Follow safety guidelines and maintain safe working practices.
• Perform maintenance and repair of steel structures when required.
• Required Skills & Competencies:Strong knowledge of structural steel fitting and fabrication processes.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
• Good knowledge of measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, measuring tape, and gauges.
• Basic knowledge of welding and fabrication support activities.
• Understanding of safety procedures and industrial standards.
• Good physical stamina and ability to work at heights if required.
• Team handling and coordination skills (if senior role).
• Educational Qualification: ITI / Diploma in Fitter, Fabrication, or Mechanical trade preferred.
• Relevant certification in structural fitting or fabrication is an added advantage.
• Working Conditions:Work in fabrication shop, plant, or construction site environment.
• May require shift work and site travel depending on project requirements.
