HOT MIX PLANT (HMP) SUPERVISOR

Position Details:

Position: Hot Mix Plant (HMP) Supervisor

Department: Plant & Machinery / Execution

Reporting To: Project Manager / Planning Engineer

Location: Project Site / Hot Mix Plant Location

Purpose of the Role:

To ensure continuous, controlled and quality production of asphalt mix as per approved mix design, specifications and project requirements, while minimizing wastage, breakdowns and cost overruns.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical & Production Control:

Operate and control Hot Mix Plant production as per approved mix design (DBM / BC / BM / SDBC).

Ensure correct aggregate gradation, bitumen grade and mixing temperature.

Monitor cold bin proportioning, dryer drum, burner and mixing cycle.

Prevent overheating, underheating and improper mixing.

Ensure required production quantity as per daily paving plan.

Quality Control Coordination:

Ensure compliance with QC requirements and specifications.

Maintain temperature records and sampling discipline.

Coordinate with QC Engineer for testing and approvals.

Immediately report deviations in quality or mix behavior.

Material & Consumption Control:

Monitor bitumen, aggregate and fuel consumption.

Match production quantity with bitumen issue and aggregate feeding.

Control wastage, dust loss and unauthorized consumption.

Equipment & Breakdown Management:

Coordinate with operators and mechanics for smooth plant operation.

Identify early signs of breakdown and take preventive action.

Ensure proper shutdown, start-up and safety practices.

Reporting & Documentation:

Prepare and submit Daily HMP Production Report.

Maintain bitumen register, aggregate register and fuel log.

Report downtime, breakdown and loss with reasons.

Share clear and factual data with project management.

Authority & Accountability:

Authorized to stop production if quality or safety is compromised.

Responsible for mix quality, production discipline and material control.

Qualification & Experience:

ITI / Diploma in Mechanical or Civil Engineering.

Minimum 5–10 years experience in Hot Mix Plant operations.

Experience in road projects (PWD / NHAI / State Roads / PMGSY).

Desired Traits:

Strong technical understanding and alert mindset.

Discipline in records, quality and consumption control.

Ability to work under pressure without compromising quality.
