Draughtsman

Minimum Qualifications for Draughtsman in the Tunnel Construction Industry:

  1. Educational Background:

    • Diploma in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
    • Certificate in Draughtsmanship (preferably AutoCAD) from a recognized institute.
  2. Experience:

    • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in preparing detailed engineering drawings for tunnels and underground structures.
    • Familiarity with TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) or NATM (New Austrian Tunneling Method) projects is preferred.
  3. Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in AutoCADRevit, and other drafting software.
    • Knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modeling) tools is a plus.
    • Understanding of tunnel design elements like cross-sections, alignment plans, reinforcement detailing, and utilities layout.
  4. Knowledge Requirements:

    • Familiarity with geotechnical and structural aspects of tunnels.
    • Basic knowledge of international and local standards for tunnel design and construction.

Job Description for Draughtsman in Tunnel Construction Industry:

  1. Drafting and Detailing:

    • Prepare detailed engineering drawings for tunnel alignments, cross-sections, and construction stages.
    • Develop drawings for ventilation systemsdrainage layouts, and structural reinforcements in coordination with engineers.
  2. Design Coordination:

    • Collaborate with design engineers, geotechnical experts, and project teams to ensure accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
    • Assist in revising and updating drawings based on field data and engineer feedback.
  3. Document Management:

    • Maintain a systematic archive of drawings and revisions.
    • Ensure compliance with project standards and document control protocols.
  4. Field Support:

    • Provide drawing clarifications to site engineers and foremen during construction activities.
    • Occasionally visit construction sites to validate designs and implement necessary modifications.
  5. Software and Tools Usage:

    • Utilize advanced drafting tools to create precise and dimensionally accurate drawings.
    • Work on 3D modeling for complex tunnel structures when required.
  6. Compliance and Standards:

    • Ensure that all drawings comply with relevant engineering codes, project standards, and safety guidelines.
  7. Coordination with Stakeholders:

    • Communicate with contractors and clients to align drawings with project goals.
    • Integrate designs from various disciplines such as MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) into tunnel layouts.
