Job Description – Procurement Executive (Raw Material & MRO)

Position: Procurement Executive

Department: Procurement & Contracts

Reporting To: Contracts Manager / Procurement Head

Job Purpose: Responsible for end-to-end procurement activities for MRO and Bulk Raw Materials like Coal, Propane, Zinc, Ferro Alloys, Consumables, and associated services. This includes procurement strategy development, sourcing, order execution, change order management, and supplier coordination to ensure timely delivery, cost efficiency, and quality compliance.

  • Key Responsibilities:1. Strategic Sourcing and Planning Understand requirements for MRO and bulk raw materials.
  • Provide inputs to Contracts Manager for defining the overall procurement strategy.
  • Align with internal stakeholders on timelines and budget planning.
  • Develop contracts plans based on supplier market analysis.
  • Shortlist potential suppliers and prepare spend estimates.
  • 2. Order Execution and Expediting Process Purchase Requisitions (PR/SPR) and release RFQs to vendors.
  • Conduct vendor assessments and prepare comparative analysis for supplier selection.
  • Develop internal cost estimates and negotiate prices within delegation limits.
  • Participate in commercial negotiations to finalize contracts and purchase orders.
  • Release final Purchase Orders (PO) and manage supplier communications.
  • Coordinate with inbound logistics and commercial teams for order follow-up.
  • Monitor post-award contract management including supplier feedback, dispute resolution, and expediting.
  • Implement escalation processes as required.
  • 3. Change Order Management Participate in project planning meetings to understand change requirements.
  • Release change orders on time according to project needs.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for confirmations or clarifications related to change orders.
  • Address emergency procurement requirements swiftly and effectively.
  • Skills and Competencies: Strong negotiation and commercial skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of supply chain management and vendor management.
  • Familiarity with raw material and MRO categories (e.g., Coal, Propane, Zinc, etc.).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Commerce, or related fields.
  • 4–7 years of experience in procurement, preferably in manufacturing, steel, or process industries.
