Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Role OverviewWe are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for machine design, drawing management, product development support, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires strong technical expertise, accountability, and the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently. 

Desired Skills & QualificationsTechnical Skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks (Mandatory)
• Strong working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Minimum 4+ years of experience in a mechanical design role within the manufacturing industry
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and machining practices

Process & Quality Knowledge 

• Knowledge of 5S, Lean Manufacturing, TQM, and Kaizen
• Experience in cost optimisation and design for manufacturing

Key Responsibilities

1. Design & DevelopmentWork closely with supervisors and management to understand requirements for new product development.

• Execute assigned design and development tasks efficiently and accurately.
• Travel for machine study, site visits, or product development activities when required.
• Focus on improving designs for manufacturability, and cost optimisation.

2. Drawing Creation & ManagementCreate, maintain, and update machine drawings as per company procedures.

• Prepare detailed drawings based on inputs from manufacturing and assembly teams.
• Ensure drawings include all necessary manufacturing and assembly details.
• Update drawing records based on site feedback and commissioning changes.
• Maintain and update machine annexures and documentation in respective machine folders.

3. Coordination & ExecutionUnderstand internal customer requirements (manufacturing, assembly, commissioning teams).

• Complete assigned tasks independently within defined timelines.
• Provide regular updates to supervisors/management on ongoing, pending, and planned work.
• Maintain clear documentation and systematic record-keeping for all design activities.

4. Continuous Improvement & Cost ReductionFocus on cost reduction through:

• Optimal material selection
• Design optimisation for manufacturing efficiency
• Implement and promote 5S, Lean, TQM, and Kaizen practices within design activities.
• Share monthly reports on new practices implemented and their impact (process, cost, time, resources).

5. Compliance & Workplace DisciplineMaintain organised documentation and systematic workflows.

• Ensure housekeeping and cleanliness of work areas and design records.
• Work in alignment with company processes, standards, and timelines.
• Undertake any additional responsibilities assigned by management as per organisational requirements.

Compensation

• Freshers: ₹18,000 – ₹20,000 per month
• Experienced Candidates: Competitive compensation based on experience, skills, and industry knowledge
