Workshop Manager

The Workshop Manager is responsible for overseeing the complete operations of the construction equipment workshop, ensuring efficient repair, maintenance, and servicing of machines such as excavators, loaders, backhoe loaders (TLB), vibratory compactors (VC), cranes, and other heavy equipment. The role focuses on productivity, quality control, cost management, and customer satisfaction.

• Key Responsibilities:1. Workshop Operations Management Manage day-to-day workshop activities.
• Allocate jobs to technicians based on skill and priority.
• Ensure timely repair and maintenance of equipment.
• Monitor turnaround time (TAT) for each machine.
• Maintain workshop discipline and safety standards.
• 2. Team ManagementSupervise mechanics, technicians, electricians, and helpers.
• Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support.
• Conduct daily review meetings with the service team.
• Train staff on new technology and updated repair procedures.
• Monitor productivity and performance of technicians.
• 3. Service & Repair ManagementEnsure proper diagnosis before repair work.
• Maintain high repair quality standards.
• Approve job cards and final inspection before machine delivery.
• Handle major breakdowns and field support coordination.
• Reduce repeat complaints.
• 4. Spare Parts & Inventory ControlCoordinate with spare parts department for availability.
• Control wastage and misuse of parts.
• Monitor slow-moving and fast-moving inventory.
• Ensure proper stock levels for critical components.
• 5. Customer HandlingCommunicate repair status with customers.
• Handle customer complaints professionally.
• Ensure high customer satisfaction.
• Provide repair estimates and timelines.
• 6. Financial & Cost ControlMonitor workshop revenue targets.
• Control labor and operational costs.
• Improve workshop profitability.
• Ensure proper billing of parts and labor.
• 7. Safety & ComplianceEnsure adherence to safety standards.
• Maintain proper tool management.
• Ensure compliance with company and legal regulations.
• Conduct safety training sessions.
• 8. Reporting & DocumentationMaintain proper service records.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports.
