Spray Painter

A Spray Painter prepares surfaces (cleaning, sanding, masking), mixes paints to match specifications, applies coatings using spray guns or other tools for an even finish, and maintains equipment, ensuring high quality and adherence to safety/project timelines, often in auto body, furniture, or industrial settings. Key duties include surface prep, color matching, precise application, quality checks, and equipment care, requiring detail orientation and hand-eye coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Surface Preparation: Clean, sand, strip rust, fill imperfections, and mask areas not to be painted (windows, fixtures).
• Paint Mixing & Selection: Mix paints, coatings, and primers to exact colors and consistencies, often using technical data.
• Application: Apply paint evenly with spray guns, adjusting nozzles for patterns, and potentially using brushes for detail work.
• Quality Control: Monitor drying, check for runs/drips, perform touch-ups, and ensure final finish meets standards.
• Equipment Maintenance: Clean spray guns, hoses, booths, and maintain a tidy work area.
• Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols, use protective gear (respirators), and manage spills.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with various paints, wood, metal, plastic surfaces.
• Proficiency with spray guns, ladders, scaffolding.
• Strong attention to detail and hand-eye coordination.
• Knowledge of paint mixing and color matching.
• Ability to read work orders and follow instructions.
