Textile Pattern Designer

A Pattern Maker is responsible for creating accurate garment patterns based on designer sketches, measurements, and technical specifications. The role ensures proper fit, comfort, and manufacturability of garments while maintaining brand quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop garment patterns from design sketches, reference samples, or specifications
• Create master patterns for different styles and collections
• Ensure accurate sizing, proportions, and fit across all size ranges
• Modify and correct patterns based on fit samples and trial feedback
• Collaborate closely with designers, tailors, and production teams
• Prepare patterns for cutting, sampling, and bulk production
• Mark grain lines, notches, seam allowances, and construction details
• Maintain pattern records and update pattern libraries
• Assist in fabric consumption calculation and material optimization
• Ensure patterns align with production feasibility and timelines

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of garment construction and sewing techniques
• Proficiency in manual pattern making (paper patterns)
• Experience with CAD pattern-making software (optional but preferred)
• Good understanding of fabrics, fits, and measurements
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work under deadlines and adapt to design changes

Experience

• 1–5 years of experience in garment or fashion manufacturing (depending on role level)

Work Environment

• Fashion houses, garment factories, boutiques, or export units
• Works closely with designers, sample tailors, and production teams
