Splicer Cum FTTH Technician

The Splicer will be responsible for performing optical fiber splicing, testing, and maintenance activities for both BharatNet (FRT – Fault Restoration Team) and FTTH (Fiber to the Home) projects. The role includes end-to-end management of fiber connectivity — from splicing and testing to troubleshooting and ensuring minimal downtime for customer and network links.

• Key Responsibilities:Perform fiber splicing, termination, and jointing using fusion splicing machines (e.g., Sumitomo, Fujikura).
• Conduct OTDR testing and power meter readings for link validation and fault localization.
• Support Fault Restoration Teams (FRT) in restoring broken or damaged fiber routes within SLA timelines.
• Handle FTTH provisioning and maintenance, including ONT installation, signal testing, and internal wiring.
• Maintain proper labeling, routing, and documentation of fiber links and junction boxes.
• Perform preventive maintenance on OLT-ONU links, distribution boxes, and underground fiber joints.
• Coordinate with patrollers and NOC for real-time fault escalation and closure updates.
• Ensure safety standards and maintain proper use and care of tools and splicing equipment.
• Submit daily activity and fault closure reports to the supervisor or project coordinator.
• Minimum 1–3 years experience in fiber splicing and FTTH installation/maintenance.
• Hands-on experience with OTDR, Power Meter, Fusion Splicer, and Fiber Cleaver.
• Knowledge of GPON/FTTH architecture, splitter configuration, and OLT-ONT mapping.
• Ability to read and interpret fiber route diagrams and network layouts.
• Willingness to work in the field with flexible timings, including weekends during outages.
• Good communication and reporting skills in English or Kannada.
