Counter Sales Executive

Department: Retail Operations

Reporting To: Store Manager / Department Supervisor

1. Core Department – Food Items

Roles & Responsibilities:

Assist customers with food products including grocery, FMCG, fresh & packaged items

Provide information on product usage, expiry dates, pricing, and offers

Ensure FIFO (First In, First Out) is strictly followed for all food items

Check and monitor expiry dates, damages, and quality of food products

Maintain proper shelving, hygiene, and food safety standards

Refill and replenish food items from the warehouse to the shop floor

Ensure correct MRP, barcodes, and promotional tags are displayed

Handle customer complaints related to food items

2. Non-Core Department – Non-Food Items

Roles & Responsibilities:

Assist customers with non-food products (household, personal care, apparel, electronics, etc.)

Maintain display, arrangement, and visual merchandising of non-food items

Refill and replenish non-food products from the warehouse

Ensure correct pricing, tagging, and product placement

Support sales activities and promote schemes/offers

Report damaged or missing items to the supervisor

3. Cash Department – Billing & Payments

Roles & Responsibilities:

Perform billing operations using POS systems

Handle cash, UPI, debit/credit card transactions accurately

Ensure correct scanning of food and non-food items

Apply discounts, offers, and coupons as per SOP

Maintain daily cash reconciliation and submit reports

Handle billing-related customer queries, returns, and exchanges

4. Warehouse Department – Stock Receiving & Handling

Roles & Responsibilities:

Unload and shift all products from delivery trucks to the warehouse

Verify received stock against invoice/GRN

Segregate food and non-food items as per storage guidelines

Arrange products systematically in the warehouse

Follow FIFO and proper stacking norms

Issue stock to shop floor for refilling and replenishment

Support stock counts, audits, and inventory checks

Maintain warehouse cleanliness and safety standards

Common Requirements & Skills:

Minimum qualification: 10+2 / Graduate preferred

Experience in retail, grocery, or warehouse operations is an advantage

Basic knowledge of food safety, inventory, and POS systems

Physically fit to handle stock movement and lifting

Good communication and teamwork skills

Willingness to work in shifts, weekends, and holidays
