Job Title: 3D Piping Engineer

Job Summary:

The 3D Piping Engineer is responsible for the design, modeling, and drafting of piping systems using 3D CAD software for industrial projects such as power plants, oil & gas facilities, refineries, and chemical plants. The role involves collaborating with other engineers and departments to ensure the integrity and functionality of the piping systems.

• Key Responsibilities:
• 3D Piping Design:
• 
  
• Design and model piping systems using 3D CAD software (such as AutoCAD Plant 3D, PDMS, or Aveva).
• Create detailed piping layouts, isometric drawings, and assembly drawings.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and safety regulations.
• Collaboration:
• 
  
• Work closely with project managers, mechanical engineers, and other disciplines to integrate piping designs into the overall project.
• Coordinate with field teams and fabricators to ensure the accuracy and feasibility of designs.
• Clash Detection & Resolution:
• 
  
• Perform 3D clash detection using software tools to identify and resolve any conflicts between piping, structural elements, and equipment.
• Modify designs to address clashes or discrepancies in the project layout.
• Piping Specifications & Standards:
• 
  
• Adhere to project-specific specifications and international standards for piping materials, sizes, and fittings.
• Prepare and maintain a material take-off (MTO) list based on 3D models.
• Documentation & Reporting:
• 
  
• Maintain accurate records of design iterations, revisions, and approvals.
• Generate reports, presentations, and status updates for clients and stakeholders.
• Quality Assurance:
• 
  
• Ensure the designs are of high quality, cost-effective, and optimized for ease of installation and maintenance.
• Review and verify drawings, design calculations, and materials for accuracy.
• Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Piping Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience in piping design and 3D modeling (2-5 years, depending on the seniority level).
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (AutoCAD Plant 3D, PDMS, Aveva, or similar tools).
• Knowledge of piping codes and standards (ASME, ANSI, ASTM, etc.).
• Familiarity with material specifications, construction methods, and fabrication processes.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Desirable Skills:
• Experience with pipe stress analysis and FEA tools.
• Knowledge of P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams).
• Familiarity with project management principles and tools.
• Certification in relevant piping design or CAD tools.
• Working Conditions:
• Office-based with occasional site visits for field verification.
• Some overtime or travel may be required based on project deadlines and location.
