Job Description
Job Summary
The Social Work – Field Officer will work closely with children, teachers, schools, parents, and communities to support and improve access to quality education. The role involves on-ground implementation of educational programs, teaching support, community mobilization, monitoring student progress, and coordinating with stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of education-focused initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular field visits to schools, learning centers, and community locations
- Support teaching activities, remedial classes, and learning sessions for children
- Assist in implementation of education programs (foundational literacy, numeracy, life skills, etc.)
- Identify out-of-school children and support their enrollment and retention in schools
- Work closely with teachers to improve classroom engagement and learning outcomes
- Mobilize parents and community members to promote the importance of education
- Organize educational workshops, teacher training sessions, and awareness programs
- Monitor student attendance, learning progress, and overall development
- Maintain accurate field records, reports, surveys, and documentation
- Coordinate with school authorities, local bodies, and NGO teams
- Identify challenges in the field and suggest practical solutions
- Support distribution of educational materials and learning resources
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work / Education / Arts / Humanities or related field
- Candidates with teaching training (D.El.Ed, B.Ed, ECCE) preferred
- Freshers with strong field interest or experienced field workers may apply
Skills & Competencies
- Passion for education and child development
- Basic teaching and classroom handling skills
- Strong communication skills (local language required; Hindi/English preferred)
- Ability to work independently in field conditions
- Community engagement and mobilization skills
- Basic documentation and reporting skills
- Willingness to travel extensively within project areas
Preferred Attributes
- Prior experience working with NGOs, schools, or community projects
- Experience teaching children from underserved communities
- Familiarity with government education schemes
- Empathetic, patient, and child-friendly approach
