CNC Operator cum Programmer Roles & responsibilities

1. CNC Programming

Program Development: Write, modify, and test CNC programs using G-code and CAM software based on engineering designs and models.

Optimize Programs: Continuously optimize CNC programs for speed, accuracy, and minimal material waste to meet engineering specifications.

2. Machine Setup & Operation

Setup Machines: Set up CNC machines (e.g., lathes, milling machines) for production runs, including selecting and installing the correct tools, fixtures, and materials.

Operate Machines: Run CNC machines to manufacture precision components as per engineering drawings, ensuring proper machine calibration and tool alignment.

3. Blueprint & Design Interpretation

Technical Interpretation: Read and interpret complex engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD designs to ensure accurate machine programming and operation.

Design Feedback: Provide feedback on design feasibility or suggest modifications based on machining capabilities.

4. Quality Control

Precision Inspection: Use precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, CMM) to inspect machined parts for accuracy and adherence to tight tolerances.

Adjustments: Make necessary adjustments to machine settings or programming to correct deviations from the design specifications.

5. Routine Maintenance

Machine Upkeep: Perform regular maintenance on CNC machines, ensuring they are in optimal working condition, including changing tools and ensuring proper lubrication.

Troubleshoot Issues: Identify and troubleshoot minor machine malfunctions and ensure the timely repair of any major issues.

6. Safety and Compliance

Adhere to Safety Standards: Follow strict safety protocols in line with industry and company standards to prevent accidents and ensure a safe work environment.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with industry regulations, including ISO and other quality management standards.

7. Collaboration with Engineering Teams

Work with Engineers: Collaborate with design and production engineers to ensure that CNC programs and production processes align with project goals.

Problem Solving: Work with engineers to troubleshoot design or production issues, suggesting improvements where necessary.

8. Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement

Efficiency Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve machining processes, reduce cycle times, and enhance the quality of the finished product.

Technology Integration: Stay updated on the latest CNC technology, tools, and software to continuously improve operations.

9. Documentation & Reporting

Maintain Records: Keep detailed records of programming, machine setups, and production runs for reference and quality control.

Production Reporting: Report production output, machine performance, and any issues encountered during machining operations.
