Job Description: Housekeeping Staff - Location: HostelExp hostels in Kerala and Tamil Nadu

Job Type: Full-Time / Shift-based

Main Responsibilities

Clean and maintain guest rooms, dorms, bathrooms, and common areas daily to high hygiene and presentation standards.

• Make beds, change linens, and replace towels as needed.
• Replenish guest supplies (toiletries, tissue, etc.) and restock cleaning carts.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust guest areas and corridors.
• Empty trash bins, remove waste, and assist in laundry operations.
• Report any damages, maintenance issues, or missing items found during cleaning to management immediately.
• Ensure security by checking and securing rooms after cleaning.
• Assist with lost and found items, handing them over as per policy.
• Respond promptly and politely to guest requests or issues relating to cleanliness, providing basic customer service.
• Follow safety and sanitation guidelines strictly, including correct use of cleaning agents and equipment.
• Comply with hostel policies on conduct, confidentiality, and guest privacy.
• Occasionally assist with deep cleaning and special cleaning projects for seasonal or festival periods.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment.

Specific Requirements

Prior experience as housekeeping staff in hostels/hotels is preferred; freshers may be considered.

• Knowledge of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and proper usage is essential.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
• Good physical fitness: able to lift up to 25kg and work on feet for long periods.
• Willingness to work in shift patterns, including weekends and public holidays.
• Basic literacy and communication skills in English; knowledge of Malayalam or Tamil is a plus.
• Attentive to detail, reliable, honest, and trustworthy.
• Friendly attitude and basic customer service skills for interacting with international and domestic backpackers.
• Must maintain personal hygiene and grooming standards.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school or equivalent education.
• Certificate or diploma in hospitality/housekeeping is an advantage.
• Prior hostel or budget accommodation experience is valued.
