Job Description

Job Title: Restaurant CaptainAbout the RoleThe Restaurant Captain is responsible for supervising the dining area, ensuring excellent guest service, maintaining service standards, and coordinating with staff to deliver a smooth and memorable dining experience. The Captain acts as the link between guests, service staff, and the kitchen.

  • Key ResponsibilitiesGuest Service & ExperienceGreet and welcome guests, escort them to tables, and ensure comfort.
  • Take orders accurately and ensure timely food and beverage service.
  • Handle special requests, dietary needs, and guest complaints professionally.
  • Maintain a high standard of hospitality and personalized service.
  • Floor SupervisionOversee daily restaurant operations during the shift.
  • Ensure all tables, service stations, and dining areas are clean and well-presented.
  • Coordinate service flow between kitchen and service team.
  • Monitor table turnover, seating arrangements, and reservation management.
  • Team CoordinationAssign tasks to servers, stewards, and support staff.
  • Train and guide team members on service etiquette, upselling, and guest handling.
  • Conduct briefing sessions before shift to communicate menu updates, specials, and SOPs.
  • Menu Knowledge & UpsellingMaintain complete knowledge of the menu, ingredients, portion sizes, and preparation styles.
  • Promote daily specials and upsell dishes and beverages.
  • Assist guests with recommendations based on their preferences.
  • Quality & ComplianceEnsure adherence to restaurant policies, hygiene standards, and safety guidelines.
  • Perform regular checks on service equipment, cutlery, serving trays, and table settings.
  • Work closely with kitchen and bar teams to maintain accuracy in orders.
  • Requirements2–5+ years of experience in a hospitality/service role.
  • Prior experience as a Captain/Head Waiter in a restaurant or hotel is preferred.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and guest-handling skills.
  • Knowledge of Indian, South Indian, and Kerala cuisine is an advantage (can customize for Kerala Café).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage peak hours efficiently.
