About SoCoffeeSoCoffee is building a smart supply chain for Indian coffee. We partner with growers, take freshly harvested coffee, and using automation, IoT, and technology, transform it into specialty coffee that meets global standards. Our mission is to bridge the farm-to-cup gap in India and showcase Indian coffee to the world.

Founded in October 2024 by Karumbaiah, SoCoffee is a young startup already recognized among the Top 100 Startups by the Government of Karnataka in Elevate 2024, part of the CCAMP Accelerator, and the AIC–CCRI Coffee Board program, among others. Karum previously served as the COO of YourStory Media, was an entrepreneur with an exit, and has worked with InMobi and portfolio companies of Blackstone. He’s a mechanical engineer from NIE, Mysore and has an MBA from the Indian School of Business.

Internship 1: IoT & Smart Factory Intern (Hardware Focus)We are looking for a hands-on tinkerer intern with an electronics/mechanical bent of mind. This role is about building frugal and effective hardware+IoT solutions for a smart coffee factory.

This is not a desk internship. You will spend time on-ground - observing, talking to processing staff, workers, and pluckers, understanding how things happen in reality, and then coming back with practical solutions. For example:

“How can we log pH, temperature, and pressure from a fermentation tank every 15 minutes, and automatically store that data in the backend with timestamps against a lot number?”

What You’ll Do

• Observe and solve: Go beyond theory by being on-ground, talking to people in the process, and spotting frugal solutions yourself.
• Hardware tinkering: Work with sensors (pH, temperature, pressure, load cells), boards (Arduino/ESP32), pumps, valves, etc.
• Prototyping: Build low-cost working systems to test quickly.
• Machine-level curiosity: Be comfortable opening up, understanding, and reassembling machines to improve efficiency.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the SoCoffee team and the software/data intern to bring end-to-end solutions alive.
• Efficiency mindset: Always think—“How do we make this process cheaper, smarter, faster?”

What You Bring

• Background in Electronics / Instrumentation / Mechatronics (Mechanical with IoT/electronics exposure also welcome).
• Hands-on project experience (hackathons, hobby builds, IoT projects, competitions).
• Strong fundamentals – ability to explain concepts clearly.
• Proactiveness – don’t wait to be spoon-fed; take initiative and come back with options.
• Work ethic – hungry, hardworking, outcome-driven; no shortcuts.
• Passion for coffee and its processes is a big plus.

P.S - At SoCoffee, learning happens on the ground. Both roles involve hands-on work, including direct exposure to coffee processing because understanding the product and process firsthand is critical to solving meaningful problems.

Internship Details

• Duration: Jan 15th – March end, 2026
• Time commitment: Full time.
• Stipend: If full time, ₹15,000/month.
• Location: SoCoffee plant near Coffee Board (Aruvothoklu) for hands-on work. Accommodation provided
