Job Description
Position Overview
The Lead Physiotherapist will provide advanced, evidence-based physiotherapy services for individuals with complex neurological, orthopedic, pediatric, and rehabilitation needs. This role includes clinical leadership, team coordination, supervision, community-based rehabilitation, and active participation in organizational development.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. Clinical Expertise & Patient Care
- Deliver high-quality specialist physiotherapy for individuals with complex neurological conditions including spinal cord injury, brain injury, and stroke.
- Perform comprehensive assessments, formulate individualized treatment plans, implement interventions, and coordinate rehabilitation with assistants and junior clinicians.
- Provide a broad range of physiotherapy treatments such as:
- Therapeutic handling and positioning
- Exercise and strengthening programs
- Gait training and re-education
- Electrotherapy
- Posture and mobility management
- Assess, prescribe, and ensure safe use of assistive and therapeutic equipment including wheelchairs, orthotics, walking aids, and specialized manual-handling tools.
- Evaluate, prescribe, and provide therapy related to prosthetic use, including fitting, monitoring, and patient education.
2. Clinical Leadership & Team Coordination
- Function as the Senior Therapist in-charge, overseeing clinical activities and ensuring smooth department operations.
- Provide specialist training, clinical supervision, and mentorship to junior physiotherapists, assistants, and physiotherapy students.
- Work in close collaboration with multidisciplinary team members—doctors, occupational therapists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, and P&O professionals.
- Actively involve patients, families, caregivers, and community stakeholders in rehabilitation planning, training, and assistive technology usage.
3. Goal Setting & Rehabilitation Outcomes
- Set realistic functional goals for individuals, particularly those with spinal cord injuries, based on neurological assessment and team consultation.
- Facilitate patients’ return to meaningful occupation, vocational opportunities, and community participation.
- Support discharge planning in collaboration with senior staff and interdisciplinary team.
4. Community & Program Involvement
- Participate in and support community-based rehabilitation programs, workshops, outreach camps, and field-level activities.
- Assist and take responsibility for administrative tasks assigned by the reporting officer.
- Willingness to travel for training, professional development, and outreach activities across the state or country.
5. Audit, Research & Quality Improvement
- Engage in clinical audits, quality assurance activities, and research to promote Evidence-Based Practice (EBP).
- Contribute to the ongoing development, monitoring, and improvement of rehabilitation services.
- Maintain accurate statistical data, patient records, and documentation as required.
6. Communication & Professional Development
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers—using empathy, clarity, and problem-solving skills, especially where understanding barriers exist.
- Represent the organization at external meetings as assigned.
- Maintain continuous professional development (CPD) and participate in performance appraisals.
- Contribute to in-service education programs and training sessions for internal and external stakeholders.
7. Health, Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to organizational policies, documentation standards, and safety protocols.
- Participate in mandatory training, risk assessments, and incident reporting systems.
- Ensure proper maintenance, cleanliness, and safe use of clinical equipment.
- Promote and uphold infection control practices within the department.

- Demonstrate high standards of professional ethics within and outside the organization.
- Report any concerns or behaviors that undermine equity, safety, or dignity.
Essential Criteria
- Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy (BPT) and Master’s degree in Physiotherapy (MPT).
- Fluency in Telugu and English.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in neuro-rehabilitation in an established service (stroke, brain injury, spinal injuries).
- Preferably experienced in orthopedic, amputee, and pediatric rehabilitation.
- Willingness to work in both community-based and center-based settings.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and team-coordination skills.
Compensation
Salary is negotiable based on qualifications, experience, and clinical competence.
