Job Description
Role: Business Development Executive (BDE)
Tata Consumer Products
1. Market Expansion & Network Building (Horizontal Growth)
- New Outlet Mapping: Identify and onboard "Un-tapped" retail outlets (Kirana, Modern Trade, and Standalone stores) within your assigned territory to increase numeric distribution.
- Route Planning (PJP): Capture GPS data for new outlets and integrate them into the Permanent Journey Plan (PJP).
- Stabilization: Monitor new accounts for the first 4 weeks to ensure they become "Active" buying outlets with consistent ordering patterns.
2. Operational Excellence & Service Discipline
- Distributor Management: Act as the bridge between the company and the distributor. Ensure the distributor’s delivery vehicle reaches every outlet on the fixed day and fixed time.
- Scheme Integrity: Ensure that all Short-Term Trade Schemes (STTS) and seasonal discounts are accurately passed from the distributor to the retailer to maintain trust and price parity.
- Order Fulfillment: Track "Fill Rates" to ensure that what the retailer orders is exactly what is delivered.
3. Revenue Growth & Portfolio Depth (Vertical Growth)
- Drop-Size Optimization: Analyze sales data to increase the average order value (Drop-Size) per outlet, preventing "Out-of-Stock" (OOS) scenarios between visits.
- Range Selling: Move beyond selling just tea or salt. Drive the Lines Per Call (LPC) by introducing the full Tata portfolio (Pulses, Spices, Snacks, and Beverages).
- Focus Product Execution: Meet monthly targets for "Focus Packs" (new launches or high-margin products) by pitching their unique selling propositions (USPs) to retailers.
4. Visual Merchandising & Asset Management
- The "First Moment of Truth": Secure prime "Eye-Level" shelf space for Tata products.
- Visibility Assets: Execute Floor Standing Units (FSUs), POSM (Point of Sale Material) like posters and danglers, and ensure they are placed in high-traffic zones of the store.
- Planogram Adherence: Ensure products are stacked according to company standards to maximize brand recall.
5. Consumer Engagement & Sampling
- Liquid-to-Lips/Sampling: For beverages and snacks, manage the sampling process. Ensure the delivery van is equipped with chilled products (for NourishCo/Ready-to-Drink) or fresh samples.
- Market Activation: Lead BTL (Below the Line) activities during local festivals, Melas, or society events to introduce Tata’s new innovations directly to the end consumer.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Numeric Distribution : Increasing the total number of outlets reached.
- Weighted Distribution : Increasing presence in high-volume "Star" outlets.
- LPC (Lines Per Call) : Ensuring 3+ different product categories are billed per store.
- Asset Productivity: Ensuring company-provided chillers/racks are stocked only with Tata products.
