Steward/Waiter Job Description*

A Steward/Waiter is responsible for ensuring excellent customer service in a restaurant, hotel, or catering environment. Their primary duties include serving food and beverages, assisting guests, and maintaining a clean and organized dining area. They act as the liaison between the kitchen and the guests, ensuring that orders are accurately taken and delivered promptly.

*Job Summary:*

The Steward/Waiter provides a memorable dining experience for guests by offering attentive service, taking orders, delivering food and beverages, and ensuring the cleanliness of the dining area. They contribute to the smooth operation of the front-of-house and support other staff as needed.

*Key Responsibilities:*


1. *Guest Service:*

  - Greet guests warmly, escort them to their tables, and present menus.

  - Provide detailed information on menu items, daily specials, and beverage options.

  - Take accurate food and drink orders, either manually or using POS (Point of Sale) systems.

  - Serve food and beverages promptly and courteously.

  - Address any guest concerns, complaints, or special requests to ensure a positive dining experience.

  - Assist guests with wine recommendations and food pairings if required.


2. *Order Coordination:*

  - Relay orders to the kitchen and ensure timely and accurate preparation and delivery of food.

  - Monitor kitchen and bar orders to ensure timely delivery of food and beverages.

  - Handle special requests such as dietary restrictions or allergies.

  

3. *Table Maintenance:*

  - Set up tables with appropriate cutlery, glassware, and napkins.

  - Clear and reset tables between courses and after guests finish their meals.

  - Ensure cleanliness and organization of the dining area, including tables, chairs, and floors.

  - Remove used dishes, glassware, and silverware from tables and bring them to the kitchen for cleaning.


4. *Payment and Billing:*

  - Present the bill to guests at the end of their meal and process payments (cash, credit cards, or other methods).

  - Ensure accurate billing, including splitting bills or applying discounts when needed.

  

5. *Support to Other Staff:*

  - Assist with side work such as polishing glasses and silverware, folding napkins, and restocking supplies.

  - Communicate with the kitchen staff and bartenders to coordinate service.

  - Work collaboratively with other waitstaff, bartenders, and kitchen crew to provide a smooth and efficient service.
