Job Description
The Senior Lab Technician is responsible for overseeing and conducting a variety of complex laboratory procedures and experiments. This role requires advanced technical skills, a deep understanding of laboratory practices, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The Senior Lab Technician will also mentor junior staff, ensure compliance with safety regulations, and contribute to the development and optimization of laboratory protocols.
- Key Responsibilities:Laboratory Operations:
- Perform advanced laboratory tests and experiments with precision and accuracy.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Prepare reagents, solutions, and samples for testing according to established protocols.
- Conduct quality control procedures to ensure the integrity of test results.
- Data Management:
- Record, analyze, and interpret experimental data.
- Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records.
- Prepare reports and presentations on research findings.
- Supervision and Training:
- Mentor and train junior technicians and laboratory assistants.
- Provide guidance on laboratory techniques and protocols.
- Assist in the development and implementation of training programs.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with all laboratory safety regulations and guidelines.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
- Address and report any safety concerns or incidents promptly.
- Inventory and Procurement:
- Manage laboratory supplies and inventory.
- Coordinate the procurement of necessary materials and equipment.
- Ensure proper storage and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Qualifications:Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology). Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of laboratory experience, with at least 1 years in a senior or supervisory role.
- Skills:Proficiency in laboratory techniques and instrumentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Preferred Qualifications:Certification from a recognized professional organization (e.g., ASCP, AMT).
- Experience in a specific area relevant to the laboratory’s focus (e.g., molecular biology, microbiology, clinical chemistry).
- Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
