Job Description

Position Overview:

The Canteen Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the canteen, ensuring the delivery of high-quality food services, maintaining hygiene and safety standards, and managing the staff to create an efficient and customer-friendly environment.


Key Responsibilities:

Operations Management:


Oversee the preparation, cooking, and serving of food and beverages.

Ensure that the canteen operates efficiently during service hours.

Monitor stock levels and place orders for supplies as needed.

Staff Supervision:


Recruit, train, and supervise canteen staff.

Schedule staff shifts and ensure adequate staffing levels.

Address any performance issues and provide feedback to team members.

Customer Service:


Ensure a high standard of customer service is maintained.

Address and resolve customer complaints or concerns promptly.

Monitor customer satisfaction and implement improvements as needed.

Health and Safety Compliance:


Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.

Conduct regular checks on kitchen equipment and cleanliness.

Implement and monitor health and safety practices in the workplace.

Financial Management:


Manage cash handling and ensure accurate accounting of daily takings.

Work within a budget and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Prepare sales reports and provide feedback to management.

Menu Planning:


Assist in creating nutritious and appealing menu options.

Monitor food quality and adjust recipes or offerings as required.

Introduce seasonal or special items to meet customer demand.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; certification in hospitality or food services is a plus.

Experience: Proven experience in food service management or a similar role.

Skills:

Strong leadership and organizational skills.

Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.

Knowledge of food safety regulations and practices.

Proficiency in inventory management and basic accounting.
