Job Description

About Morph Electric:

Morph Electric is combining innovative technology and expertise in engineering and transforming petrol two-wheelers (2Ws) to fully electric, helping accelerate EV adoption in a sustainable way. Morph’s vision is to make electric mobility affordable. Join us as we pave the way towards a greener future and revolutionize the way we move.

Job Summary:

As a Design Engineer at Morph Electric, you will design and develop electric powertrain components to convert petrol two-wheelers into fully electric vehicles. Your responsibilities include managing the entire design lifecycle, from concept and 3D modeling (using SolidWorks) to prototyping and production. You will validate designs through testing and simulations, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive innovations in electric powertrain technology. The role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a passion for electric vehicle technology.

Key Responsibilities

●      Component Design: Design and develop components and systems for electric two-wheelers, including mountings, attachments in the vehicle, motor, gearbox, chassis, suspension, body panels, and electrical enclosures. Ensure designs meet performance, safety, and aesthetic standards.

  • CAD Modeling: Utilize SolidWorks to create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings of components and assemblies. Ensure accuracy and adherence to design specifications
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T): Apply GD&T principles to ensure the precision and accuracy of components and assemblies, facilitating design intent and manufacturability.
  • Integration: Ensure seamless integration of components and systems by collaborating with different teams. Address fit, form, and functional requirements during the design process
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive design documentation that is up-to-date and accessible to relevant teams - including design specifications, test reports, revision history, and technical drawings.

●      Design for Manufacturing (DFM): Optimize designs for manufacturability, considering factors such as material selection, production processes, and cost efficiency. Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure feasible and efficient production.

  • Prototyping: Oversee the fabrication of prototypes, working closely with manufacturing teams to ensure design intent is maintained. Conduct iterative testing and refinement of prototypes to meet performance goals.
  • Testing and Validation: Participate in the testing and validation of designs, including stress analysis, thermal analysis, and durability testing. Ensure designs comply with regulatory standards and safety requirements.

Additional Responsibilities

●      Innovation: Contribute innovative ideas and solutions to improve the performance, aesthetics, and functionality of our electric two-wheelers. Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in EV technology.

●      Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and marketing, to ensure successful project outcomes. Facilitate clear communication and collaboration across departments.

 ●      Project Management: Manage design projects from concept to completion, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met. Coordinate with project managers and team leads to align on project goals and deliverables.

●      Customer Focus: Incorporate feedback from customers, stakeholders, and field testing into the design process to ensure user needs are met and products exceed customer expectations.

●      Continuous Learning: Engage in continuous learning and professional development to stay current with the latest technologies, tools, and best practices in electric vehicle design and engineering.

Qualifications

●      Experience – 0 to 2yrs in vehicle design or related field, preferably with experience in electric two-wheelers. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.

●      Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and 2D drawing creation.

●      Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and engineering principles.

●      Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.

●      Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

●      Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

●      Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Salary: INR 15,000 p.m. (probation period – 3 months); INR 21,000 p.m. (minimum) post probation.
