About the job:

Join a collaborative engineering team where you’ll lead the design and delivery of reliable, high-performance data solutions using Scala. Key Responsibilities:

• Lead end-to-end development of data engineering solutions using Scala, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability.
• Drive technical design discussions, define implementation approaches, and review code to enforce engineering standards and best practices.
• Build and optimize data processing components, ensuring efficient transformations, validations, and error handling.
• Collaborate with product, analytics, and platform teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical deliverables.
• Establish and maintain CI/CD-friendly development practices, including unit testing, integration testing, and automated quality checks.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement preventive measures to improve system reliability.
• Mentor and guide engineers, supporting technical growth and ensuring consistent delivery across the team.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent degree in a relevant discipline.
• 5–8 years of overall experience with strong hands-on expertise in Scala development for data engineering use cases.
• Proven experience designing and implementing data processing logic with attention to performance and code quality.
• Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals including OOP/FP concepts, data structures, and clean coding practices.
• Experience with code reviews, testing practices, and delivering production-grade solutions in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience leading technical delivery, including solution design, task breakdown, estimation, and stakeholder communication.
• Strong experience in building scalable data pipelines and optimizing batch/stream processing workloads using Scala-based frameworks.
• Exposure to distributed systems concepts and performance tuning for large-scale data processing.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and drive adoption of engineering best practices across teams.
• Experience working in agile delivery models with a focus on predictable execution and continuous improvement.
