We are the Data & Applied Sciences team for Windows in Hyderabad, India. Our mission is to use data science, analytics, experimentation, and measurement to inform decision making, improve customer experiences, and maximize business impact across the Windows ecosystem. We partner closely with Product, Engineering, Design, Research, and business stakeholders to answer critical questions, evaluate investments, measure outcomes, and influence product strategy.

We're looking for an experienced Senior Data Scientist to help drive product and business decisions through data-driven insights, experimentation, measurement frameworks, and advanced analytics for experiences running on Windows devices worldwide.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will tackle complex business and product challenges by applying analytical rigor, statistical techniques, experimentation, and data-driven thinking. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, evaluate product investments, measure customer impact, and influence strategic decisions.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Partnering with Product, Engineering, Design, and business stakeholders to identify key business questions and translate them into measurable outcomes.
• Defining and operationalizing key performance indicators (KPIs) and success metrics for customer-facing experiences.
• Designing and analyzing experiments, causal inference studies, and observational analyses to evaluate product investments and business outcomes.
• Developing analytical frameworks that help teams understand customer behavior, product health, engagement trends, and growth opportunities.
• Identifying actionable insights and translating them into recommendations that influence product strategy and prioritization.
• Measuring the impact of product launches, feature investments, and strategic initiatives.
• Communicating analytical findings effectively to technical and non-technical audiences, including senior stakeholders.
• Contributing to best practices in experimentation, measurement, statistical rigor, and decision science across the organization.
• Mentoring peers, participating in technical reviews, and helping raise the quality bar for data science across the team.

AI Evaluation & Modern Analytics

• Help design evaluation methodologies and success metrics for AI-powered and intelligent product experiences.
• Apply statistical and experimental methods to assess the impact, quality, reliability, and customer value of AI-enabled capabilities.
• Leverage modern AI-assisted analytical tools responsibly while maintaining high standards of scientific rigor and analytical excellence.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, or another quantitative discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in Data Science, Analytics, Applied Statistics, or a related field.
• Experience applying statistical inference, predictive modeling, forecasting, and quantitative analysis to solve business and product challenges.
• Deep experience in experimentation, A/B testing, causal inference, and statistical analysis.
• Experience designing and operationalizing product, customer, or business success metrics.
• Experience working with large-scale data platforms such as Spark, Hadoop, Cosmos, or similar technologies.
• Solid programming skills in Python, SQL, C#, Java, or similar languages.
• Demonstrated ability to influence decisions through data-driven insights and recommendations.
• Exceptional collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to thrive in highly ambiguous environments and drive clarity and action.
• Passion for mentoring others and continuously learning emerging analytical and AI-related techniques.
• Experience supporting large-scale consumer products or services.
• Experience with product analytics, customer measurement, engagement analysis, growth, retention, or monetization scenarios.
• Familiarity with Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and modern AI evaluation methodologies.
• Experience building executive-facing narratives and communicating complex analytical findings in a simple, actionable manner.
