As the Legal Manager, you will play a crucial role in the Loan Against Property department, specifically within the Hardship Assistance Unit. Your primary focus will be to ensure the bank's operations adhere to legal and regulatory requirements, mitigate legal risks, and provide strategic legal advice to the unit's management. You will work closely with the unit's leadership to develop and implement legal strategies, as well as collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive and compliant approach across the bank.

• Review and analyze loan agreements, security documents, and other legal contracts related to loan against property operations to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Provide legal advice and guidance to the Hardship Assistance Unit's management and staff on a wide range of legal matters, including but not limited to loan restructuring, debt recovery, and legal remedies.
• Identify and assess legal risks associated with loan against property operations and develop strategies to mitigate these risks, including the implementation of legal compliance frameworks.
• Collaborate with the bank's legal department and external counsel to handle complex legal issues, litigation, and disputes related to loan against property.
• Stay updated with changes in laws, regulations, and industry practices relevant to loan against property and provide timely updates to the unit's management.
• Conduct legal research and prepare legal opinions on various matters, such as loan enforcement, foreclosure, and borrower protection laws.
• Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure the unit's operations are legally compliant and aligned with the bank's overall legal strategy.
• Train and mentor junior legal professionals within the unit, providing guidance on legal matters and best practices.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including government bodies, regulatory authorities, and industry associations.
• Ensure the unit's compliance with data privacy and protection laws, especially in relation to borrower information and sensitive data.

• A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent degree from a recognized university, with a strong academic record.
• Admission to the bar and a valid license to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
• Minimum 5-7 years of experience in a legal capacity, preferably within the banking or financial services industry, with a focus on loan against property or secured lending.
• Demonstrated expertise in contract law, secured transactions, and relevant regulatory frameworks governing loan against property operations.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide practical legal solutions to complex issues.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
